When I got my Women’s Health magazine this month with Jillian Michaels on the cover, I quickly flipped to the pages featuring her Ab workout. When I saw the last move, I got down to the ground to try it and WTF, I looked ridiculous and felt stupid.
Naturally I had to make a video to show you her 3 awesome exercises and the 1 that had me looking like a turtle trying to roll over in it’s shell.
Crazy Ab Workout in Women’s Health (by SarahsFabChannel)
New video from Diet.com featuring myself and the lovely Cassey from Blogilates.com. This video featuring an oblique Pilates workout! It’s done in real time on just one side so you’ll need to watch it twice to get the complete workout. Once on the right, and once on the left side.
Check it out now, do it and reblog. We filmed this on a cloudy day in May and both had the blues since we hadn’t seen sun in over 2 weeks! You would never know it though, except for my whining at the end about a shoulder issue. In my defense, that was Jillian Michaels’ fault and mine for doing her DVD at lunch before we filmed.
Tomorrow night at the end of The Biggest Loser Season 12 finale, there will be a big announcement. As most of you know, Jillian Michaels will be stepping down to focus on adopting and raising a child. However continuing the trend of hiring un-credentialed personal trainers like Cara Castronova, the show will announce former tennis hottie Anna Kournikova as one of the trainers for season 13.
This is just mind boggling to me. The show has such a powerful voice, it’s sad that the unsafe methods used for extreme weight loss are nearing so close to danger. At least Bob and Jillian have grown as trainers over the years, protecting the contestants’ health and bodies more and more each season. With the addition of another pretty faced athlete, it seems the producers just want ratings and do not care about the actual safety of contestants.
These athletes are trained by professionals during their careers. That doesn’t mean that they took the time to learn the science behind their training. It sure as heck doesn’t mean they have experience with obese clients either! They are world class athletes and have no idea what it’s like to work with a client who has hypertension, 100 lbs to lose or severe postural issues! What once was an inspirational show with criticism is turning into a recipe for injuries and poor ethics.
What do you think?
Yes, I braved the sushi at Fenway Park last night. Sitting in the best seats I have ever been given, I chose to try one of the newest editions to the ball park menu. Sitting in the first row behind home plate (and 4 people out of the frame of the camera, darn) I dined on 4 california rolls and 4 spicy tuna rolls that were allegedly from Basho, a sushi restaurant located behind Fenway.
Verdict: I really enjoyed them! I would totally get them again as well and would recommend them to other Bostonians. I washed them down of course with the obligatory beer (or 2). For only $11, it’s similar in price to the rest of the menu items.
Although David Ortiz did not play most of Tuesday night’s game, he did come up to bat for the last out of the game. I have seen him hit a walk off home run in person but last night was not a repeat. He hit a fly out to right field to seal the loss for the last place Sox but it was fun to stand up and chant for “Big Papi.” Jon Lester pitched a great game. Final score was 3-2, Tampa Bay.
Since I didn’t know I was going until 3:30 pm, and hadn’t done anything to workout, I decided to do Jillian Michaels' six pack abs level 2. In just 30 minutes, I burned 300 calories. Amazing. That is what I burned during Exhale's Core Fusion Bootcamp and Physique 57, both which were 50-60 minutes long.
Would you be willing to try the sushi at your local ball park or do you go for the ball park frank?
Last night we were given a glimpse into the new trainers for The Biggest Loser.
If you didn’t watch, here is recap from blog buddy, Gail.
While watching the challenge (which is when I started watching), I immediately concluded that regardless of Bob and Jillian, the “losers” should choose the 4 weeks of immunity. Even Bob and Jillian agreed. What would you have chosen?
Next, during the introduction of the female trainer, Cara Castronova, the producers honestly admit by lack of information that she does not have any certifications. To be sure about this, I did my research and found that she does not. According to a post written by my favorite Boston Pilates blogger, Lisa Johnson, on December 16th;
She is very pretty and a two-time Golden Gloves boxing champion with amazingly gorgeous hair. She has been trying to establish an acting career since 2007 or so and is represented by agents in Hollywood. It appears, however, she has zippo for certifications. I can’t find one single reference to a fitness certification anywhere. I also couldn’t find a reference to her being a personal trainer anywhere. I don’t know if she’s ever had clients in real life.
How disturbing and annoying is this!? How can this trainer possible be bred for when Jillian leaves at the end of the season? Is this even safe? What are they going to do? Box for two weeks straight? What if they have shoulder issues as many deconditioned people do?
After doing more research on my own, it appears she is in fact an actress with a new movie coming out in October of 2011 (
How sketch does it sound It’s a horror movie with an unknown cast of 3).
What are your thoughts on the casting of the female trainer? Do you feel she is anywhere even close to being qualified? Is this beginning of the end for Biggest Loser?
